Six students are making carbonized briquettes from food peelings, corn cobs, saw dust and charcoal dust. The students from the Department of Environmental Management under Makerere University College of Agricultural and Environment studies formed their own organization that is doing this project.

A 35-year old Noelina Nakagwa, a resident of Lukulula in Masaka district is taking care of more than 60 children, despite being disabled. Born with missing lower limbs, Nakagwa has been able to take care of the disabled and other needy children with the little income she earns from small scale farming, where she grows maize and other food stuffs.

The hostel gets condoms from Marie Stopes, Uganda Limited and it claims they are never enough since the demand is high.
