The Bank Of Uganda has made changes on the features that will be appearing on all the bank notes printed in the year 2017.

According to a press release by the bank, the notes will now bare the signature of the current Bank Secretary, Mrs Susan Kanyemibwa alongside that of the Governor,  Prof Tumusiime Mutebile.

A committee that was tasked to investigate marks alteration at Makerere will produce its interim report next week, the university's vice chancellor Prof John Ddumba-Ssentamu has confirmed.

In the report, according to Prof Ddumba, the ten-member committee that is headed by Dr Damalie Naggitta, is expected to provide a financial statement and a some findings from the investigation.

As Makerere's 67th graduation ceremony draws, it has been discovered that over 400 students are planning to storm the main building after they realised they are missing on the final graduation list.

According to the academic affairs minister Tomson Tayebwa, the issue was raised by angry students who have been affected and the 82nd guild government is pledging its support in all forms if the university does not rectify the mess immediately.

The academic registrar of Makerere, Alfred Masikye Namoah, has today released the list of 260 prospective graduands that will be awarded first class degrees during  the university's upcoming graduation ceremony.

The ceremony will last from February 21 - 23, 2017.

According to the list, Makerere University Business School (Mubs), which is an affiliate to Makerere has 96 students with first class while the others are from main campus.

Jotham Yamu Burobuto, the Makerere 82nd guild Prime minister has paralyzed the Roy Ssembogga government and consequently shocked the Makerere students' fraternity when he submitted his resignation letter dated January 5, 2017.

"I have ceased all responsibilities, duties and obligations pertaining the office of Prime minister as per the guild constitution from today, 5th January, 2017," reads part of his resignation letter.

I stared at him, absent minded and blankly. Why couldn't I feel anything. The shivers and the blushes I got whenever I saw him were no more. I couldn't explain how I felt,but one thing I knew for sure, was that he was too late.

Reality had slapped me on the face. I had moved on. The words I was dying to hear, didn't rise my adrenalin levels. Maybe I waited for a very long period and I lost hope, perhaps I fought very hard and I had finally accepted my fate.

To most children in Uganda, when parents pass on, that marks the end of their education journeys, and children in Kanungu district haven't been any different.

With increasing number of orphans whose parents have died of HIV/Aids in Kanungu, a one Jackson Twesigye Kaguri started the Nyaka Aids Foundation in the district, to enable hundreds of these children access education.
