Media experts in Zimbabwe have asked government to repeal the stringent media laws that hinder the free practice of journalism in the country.

Zenzele Ndebele, a broadcaster and media activist who runs the biggest online media outlet in Zimbabwe, said in a WhatsApp interview that  several laws have affected media operations in the country.

I wouldn't like to be the source of discord but I heard that the book and the pen are more powerful than the sword. Well, that's kinda cool but tell me, would you pull out a pen when challenged at a duel? Really, how practical are our works? I know the system is not entirely useless, it does have its perks. But, we've only learnt how to wittily piece together several words and regurgitate concepts.

The Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Jacob L'okori Oulanyah is dead. Oulanyah passed away in a hospital in Seattle, USA where he has been battling an unidentified illness.

His death was announced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Sunday at 1:07 pm through his official Twitter handle.

Richard Sebuganda alias Sebzo, a student of Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Makerere University who was injured by a teargas canister during the ‘open for all’ students protest has escaped from Mulago hospital where he has been getting treatment for his injured hand.

It is alleged that he fled the hospital in the wee hours of the night on Thursday, 10th March 2022, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Makerere University has suspended eight students for engaging in the Saturday 5th March, 2022 clash between residents of Mitchell and University halls. This according to letters seen by this website, signed by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Henry Alinaitwe.

The suspended students include Collin Chemonges Asiimwe, David Mutesasira, Muhammadi Luzze, Zekelea Ssengendo, Joel Mujulizi, Kizito Luzige, Yunus Lubega and Raymond Ochieng.

Makerere University’s Mitchel and University halls are at risk of being closed for their violent culture exhibited on Sunday 6th March, 2022.

On 6th March 2022, at around 3:00am, a violent clash between the residents of Mitchell Hall and University Hall broke out. The fight led to damage of property.
