Students of Music, Dance and Drama on Thursday performed to live band during their famous Thursday Jam Session.

Thursday Jam Session happens every Thursday of the week at the School of Performing Arts quadrangle. During this session, MDD students do practical performances in singing, playing instruments and stage acting.

The former Dean of Makerere’s School of Law, Prof. Sylvia Tamale blames female student's dressing styles for the increasing sexual harassment at the University.

"Your dressing code attracts men's attention and they get tempted to sexually harass you, which wouldn't have been the case if dressed decently," Tamale said.

A senior official in the ministry of finance has admitted that much as government officials are corrupt, even people in the villages are equally corrupt thus calling for a mindset change in the entire country.

 

Margaret Kakande, the head of Budget Monitoring Unit at the Ministry of Finance said corruption is endemic to all Ugandans at every level.

A heavy rain has destroyed property and affected transport in Namayina village in Gayaza, after it became flooded. The flooded water blocked the road and drainage systems in the area.

 

Najemba Jane, also known as Nnalongo and a resident of the village says it started lightly but soon developed into a heavy rain. The flooding water destroyed her property in the main house and the kitchen.

The re-opening of the Mary Stuart Hall canteens remains uncertain as no one seems to have clear information about them. The former canteens were destroyed by a fire which broke out at this hall of residence in May this year, but the bidding process for new service providers seems shredded in uncertainty.

The ongoing works to expand underground sewage channels in downtown Kampala has increased the problem of traffic jam along Ggaba-Kampala route.

The most affected area is opposite Shoprite. As early as 8:00am, traffic jam can be seen on Ggaba road all the way to Clock Tower. Since the sewage channels run underground, the contractors resorted to blocking off some of the access roads.

Stefanio Nalwadda sells rosaries to serve God, and not make money. This is the reason she bears the scotching sun outside St. Augustine Chapel in Makerere University.

 

She has spent five years doing this business and earning little out of it has not bothered her. Nalwadda makes the rosaries by herself, blending them in colourful beads.

Snatching of handbags is the lead crime in Makerere University and is common at the Western gate. The most targeted are ladies since they are considered weaker and vulnerable. In this era of smartphones where many devote all their attention to, snatchers take advantage to grab hastily whatever they can and disappear.
