A heavy rain has destroyed property and affected transport in Namayina village in Gayaza, after it became flooded. The flooded water blocked the road and drainage systems in the area.

Najemba Jane, also known as Nnalongo and a resident of the village says it started lightly but soon developed into a heavy rain. The flooding water destroyed her property in the main house and the kitchen.

"It started by drizzling lightly but later became a serious rain,” she told journalism@mak.

Kivumbi Hassan, another resident said that following the heavy rain, the roads were blocked by floods affecting transport.

"It was difficult to move and people could easily fall in the moving water and die especially these children around here," said Kivumbi.

Despite these fears, no injuries or deaths were reported. Meteorologists have reported that the rains will not be very heavy in the rainy season expected to start in September.
