As a result of frequent strikes at Uganda's premier institution of higher learning, Makerere University council came up with a new tuition policy that is currently being popularised by GRCs and the University bursar at college levels. JANET LABAK has been looking at how the policy is being adopted.

The ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze yesterday said the trial provision of free wireless internet for Kampala and Entebbe people will start today October 1.
While addressing journalists at Uganda media centre, Tumwebaze added that the wireless internet will only be accessible between 6pm and 6am during week days, and from 3pm to 6am during weekend.

From a mere technical school, Makerere University, which is Uganda’s oldest institution
of higher learning, has risen to become third in Africa in the latest World University Rankings.
Out of 980 institutions worldwide the University was, however, ranked in the band of 401-500 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World
University Ranking 2016-2017.

Samuel Mugarura, a fourth year Chemistry student at Makerere who made tear gas and demonstrated how it works on Sunday has cried out for recognition as a law abiding Ugandan and not a terrorist.
