Makerere University will continue with blended learning, despite recent protests from students calling for full physical opening of the university. The aftermath of the February 7th ‘open for all protests’ at Makerere University ushered in roundtable negotiations between the university administration and the students’ guild leadership. The two reached a consensus with the former pledging to release new academic arrangements by 5th March, 2022.

Uganda’s parliament has passed the mining and mineral bill, 2021 which will lead to the establishment of the Uganda National Mining Company to manage the government’s commercial holding and participating interests in mineral agreements.

The bill that was passed on February 17, 2022, to a section of legislators, is a beacon of hope for the mining sector and the host communities for these minerals.

The students protested against the institution's blended system of teaching on Monday 7th February, 2022 an act that led to the suspension of some students by Vice Chancellor Barnabas Nawangwe.

The Mitchell Bazaar is a one-stop trade fair where new students can easily access cheap products such as mattresses, scholastic materials, among others.

By day, merchants are scattered allover under tents displaying all sorts of commodities ranging from toiletries to soft drinks and other beverages. A few health companies also set up their tents to offer free consultation services to the new and continuing students, especially in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

The 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations drew to a scintillating close with the Lions of Teranga devouring the Egyptian Pharaohs at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde, Cameroon. The shootout scoreline had Senegal in a 3-2 lead. 

Mane, who had missed a penalty in the early stages of the game, when his club teammate Mohammed Salah told his goalkeeper Gabaski which way to dive, hit in the finisher to seal the 4-2 victory for country Senegal.

Members of Parliament have quizzed officials from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development over the skyrocketing fuel prices in the country.

The MPs on the Committee of Finance believe that the ongoing fuel crisis would have been averted if the county’s oil reserves were full.
