Over 200 people have been employed by the new Mulago Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital, with more expected to be taken in next financial year.

Kusasira Enock, the Public Relations Officer at Mulago National Referral Hospital says all the new recruitments are support staff, while more medical staff needed at the facility will be recruited next year.

Muhindo Miika, a supervisor at Jet Tech Security Uganda Limited told journalism@mak that 20 security officers maintain the security at the hospital, in shifts.

Agaba Agustine the supervisor of a cleaning company On-Track Technical Services Limited, revealed that over 200 cleaners work in the facility both day and night. He adds that they had to recruit new cleaners because the new hospital is big.

"I had approached the company looking for a job but they told me that they did not have any place. It was early this month that l was called to come for some little training, later to be informed that l will be working at the new constructed facility at Mulago Hospital," said Nakiwala Gloria, a newly recruited cleaner.

The new Mulago Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital was opened on the 17th of September following completion and was officially handed over to the Prime Minister, Dr Ruhakana Rugunda by Arab Constructors. It is expected to be officially opened in October by president Yoweri Museveni.
