The suspended Editor of the Makererean says he will continue using his voice to fight for the rights of oppressed students.

The suspended student of Bachelor of Journalism and Communication, who was also Editor of the Makererean, Frank Bwambale says he will keep fighting against university policies that oppress students.

Speaking to Bwambale on phone, he expressed his happiness for being suspended over what he termed as a right cause.  “I criticise their unfair policies; I am a voice for the students that cannot afford the 15% tuition increment. I am happy history will judge me as a hero just like Mandela,” Bwambale says.

He further revealed that much as he has been denied access to the university, he will continue to keep the students’ fraternity aware of the proceedings at the university through his social media blog “The Liar media" which operates in over 400 whatsapp groups within and outside Makerere.

He also revealed that he will sue the University in the courts of law for what he called an illegal suspension.

According to the university PRO, Ritah Namisango, Bwambale is a student like any other at the university and is bound to follow the rules and regulations of the university.

However, Onesmas Mutumba, the president of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences criticized the university over what he called ‘prevailing oppression of students’ in a letter he wrote to the Vice Chancellor on 11th September, 2018.
