Makerere University guild president Roy Ssembogga has finally acknowledged receipt of resignation letter from his now former minister of research and computer technology, Yosam Bagumirabingi.
"I officially received his resignation letter yesterday, Monday 17th October 2016 and the hunt is on for a suitable replacement" Ssembogga said.
Ssembogga also added that he is not bothered by the greed for money and disrespect allegations in the letter, and as well as by the resignation itself.
" In my maiden speech, I said that coming up with a cabinet of few individuals from a pool of many capable Grcs was the hardest part of my life," he said.
He further added that he is looking forward to appointing an individual who would not run away from his responsibility just because of a simple disagreement.
However, Ssembogga accused Bagumirabingi of failure to appreciate advice from elders but instead called them non-students. In reaction, the latter rubished all the comments from his former boss, saying they are defensive in nature and just meant to distract students from the truth he brought to light in his resignation letter.
Bagumirabingi also said that it's not only him who could see the grave ills of Ssembogga, but a number of other ministers who may follow him soon.
"In fact I was simply brave enough to take the first step to resign because of the current cabinet environment," he added.
When asked about Bagumirabungi's allegations of threats from other ministers planning to resign, Elizabeth Namugambe, the Gender and Ethics minister said this was a rumour that doenst need any special attention.
Cyriaco Kabagambe, Dean of Students said resignation is a constitutional right but promised to look into the issues raised in the letter.
