Attitude looks at a Goliath as too big to miss, it knows no boundaries and limits. But, when isolated from reality it is futility. Author John C. Maxwell in his book The Difference Maker, says, “You cannot disconnect attitude from reality and expect success.”
It is a bonus, gives an edge but can never be a substitute for the following.
Competence; the thought that you can do something is confidence. If you can actually do it, that is competence. The two concepts are crystal different, confidence is simply belief in your ability that you can do something. Competence is actually the hands-on ability to get the work done.
Note that bothconfidence and competence are prequisites for great exploits, the absence of one affects the other. Think of a balloon and air, they are complementary.
Experience: Two men come seeking for a job, one has sky high attitude but zero experience, the other has 10 meter attitude but sky high experience. Who would you employ? Of course the latter, unless you don’t want great results- qualitatively and quantitatively.
One problem with experience is you get it when you need it and the lessons are learnt after the test is taken. Though we do not trash the element of great attitude with out experince, attitude enables you to get experience.
Facts: we need to do learn how to do with them. Regardless of the attitude, you can not change the fact you are a male or female, short or tall, young or old. Though your attitude can dissolve diamond, you can not change the fact that you are aging. The advice is what poet Maya Angelou gave, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.”
Personal growth: Attitude is capacitated to icrease to the top but it can not replace need for new information, or investment in oneself. For instance the need to improv your grades.
“A time comes when you need to stop waiting for the man you want to become and start being the man you want to be.” Muscian Bruce Springsteen advises.
Continual learning and growth can not be sacrificed on the altar of attitude.
Won’t stay good automatically: Your attitude will be swayed left right but faith in the creator of all-God is paramount. Philippians 4:6 says,”...the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your mind and heart.” Great, forewarned forearmed. A predicted problem is an opportunity.
