in a bid to achieve a middle income status by 2020, President Museveni has today given a cheque of Shs 200m to Kenyatta and Wekempe market vendors in Nabweru sub county Kawempe division.

Museveni, who met the vendors at Wekembe market explained that the intention of giving the money is to enable  vendors expand their SACCOS which is one of the ways of "wealth creation".

Additionally,  he has promised to buy them more land to expand the markets so that they facilitate a bigger number of people to work in them.

It should be noted that vendors in Kenyatta Market have over years been suffering from evacuation issues from Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA)  on ground that the market  is in a road,  causing traffic jam.

However,  Museveni cautioned vendors from misusing the given money, adding "if found out,  those implicated will be prosecuted in courts of laws".
