The Makerere University Journalism and Communication Association (MUJCA) football team defeated the Makerere University Communication Skills Association (MUCSKA) team by 4 goals to 3. The highly contested battle of the communicators took place at the Makerere main sports ground recently.
The MUCSKA team frog-leaped in the first half with a penalty shot that Rashid Musoke converted, amidst great contestation of its validity.
The match changed sides in the second half with MUJCA rebattling in the early second half. An A superb header from right winger Franko Olong and close shot from Albert Tumwine put the newsroom aspirants in the lead.
Communication Skills trainees fought back equalising through a close range shot and getting into a short lived lead before George Bush Ocen’s tactical header and a 70th minute Augustine Arenabo spot kick but MUJCA in the lead and subsequent lead.
Meanwhile, MUJCA attributed their win to resilience. “We played our game unwaveringly to accord us this victory. Thanks to MUJCA and the department,” Augustine Arenabo, a MUJCA team player, said.
Their MUCSKA counterparts blamed their loss on the various substitutions they made. “If only we did not make the substitutions, we would contain them (MUJCA),” Peter Nkonge, the goalkeeper said.
The game was graced by the Comunication SkillS fans, shouting and morale boosting their team that was dressed in a red uniform as opposed to the handful fans of Journalism and Communication students, who cheered their team in grey.
Members of both teams will constitute the team for the school of languages, literature and communication.
