Ghanian Caught With Shs66.6m Counterfeit Money To Be Be Charged

A 46-year-old Ghanian who was yesterday found to be possessing counterfeit money is to face charges for printing and distributing fake money.

The arrest of Peter Woods followed a tip-off by one of the people Woods had conned with the fake bank notes. He was found possessing counterfeit money of 66.6 million, including Ugandan currencies and the dollars.

Wakiso district police commander, Benard Katwalo said that the act by Woods was very grave, a reason he is to be charged in court under the case file number CRB/242/2016. Woods is currently under custody at Wakiso police headquarters.

Denies the 'allagation'

However, Woods has not yet accepted that he is the one who printed the money. He instead pinned his friend, Yusuf Batooro whom he says just left him with the bag 'without his knowledge' of what was inside.

According to the victim Daniel Mugerwa a student of Kampala International University, Woods has always been moving around the town with Batooro circulating the money.

"This is not the first time I have seen this man. The time he was with his friend Yusufu Batooro, who
introduced me to him. We went to town and they sampled for me by multiplying my money which was a sh20, 000
note by two and later gave me sh40, 000,” bitter Mugerwa narrated.

However, since then, Mugerwa has been suscipicious of the two men. The time he reported them to police after they found him at his home in the same district and t asked for Shs 5million which they said they would multiply by three for him to make Shs 15m.

When Police arrived, Mugerwa's friend, Batooro, escaped leaving in the hands of police. Woods however denying knowledge about what his friend was carrying, adding he is just a business man who deals in clothes.
