Nyamityobora FC head coach, James Odoch has resigned after his side was humiliated by table leaders KCCA fc on Sunday at the Startimes stadium in Lugogo. The Abanyankare faced a shocking 6-1 defeat that left their morale tarnished.

Odoch says that it is better to leave in honour than wait to be pushed out. "I have achieved many things at the team that I do not want to spoil. It is good to let others also try," he said.

However, he claims that the loss to KCCA FC is not the cause of his resignation. "I am not going because we lost, I had planned this long time," Odoch defended himself. He added that he did a great job by helping the side to qualify from the FUFA Big League to the Startimes Uganda Premier League.

Some of the sources journalism@mak talked to revealed that the manager was under pressure from his bosses and his dressing room had become divided, resulting in poor results and this could have laid path for his resignation.

Henry Wamala, the Nyamityobora FC captain refutes the allegations and confirms that the team is still solid both on and off the pitch. "We are not divided in any way, we just have a bad run like any team can be," he told the media. He added that it is a sad moment at the club seeing their coach abandon them. "He has been a father and a friend to all of us and we are going to miss him," said Wamala.

The side now has to look around for options to get a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy. Deputy coach Juma Ssekiziyivu is most likely to lead the side through its upcoming fixtures as interim coach as the side speeds up its hunt for a full manager.

James Odoch is not the first tactician to lose his job this season. Earlier this season, former Onduparaka head coach Asaph Mwebaze also resigned over reasons of poor results on the pitch and SC Villa's Moses Basena was also sacked by the club.

The win left KCCA FC top of the league tied on eighteen points with defending champions Vipers FC. Mike Mutebi, KCCA FC head coach praised his side for the ecstatic performance that made him proud and assured his fans that the team is to perform even better in the coming games. "I am delighted with the performance today and I hope we keep it up," he told the media in a post-match press conference.
