Different Muslim clerics condemn the brutal acts of the Ugandan security forces towards the civilians during Idd celebrations.

Muslim leaders across the country during yesterday’s Idd celebrations condemned the mistreatment of Ugandans as well as gruesome handling of opposition leaders and called for the use of peaceful means in handling political affairs in the country.

According to the Mufti of Uganda sheikh Ramadan Mubajje, acts of brutality towards Ugandans have wrecked the peace of Uganda as a nation.  He closely referred to the ill treatment of Kyadondo East MP Hon. Kyagulanyi Robert saying that acts such as those put the country on tension which makes people become indifferent towards the regime. He said the government of Uganda ought to establish diplomatic approaches towards the country’s political situation. In addition to that, he expressed a bitter reaction towards the unfair arrest of some Muslim clerics saying that it’s uncalled for since the Muslims are good people. On top of the Mufti’s voice, various Muslim leaders also made negative reactions on the acts of violence in the country. They went on to advocate for respect of human rights for citizens on behalf of the Muslim fraternity.

Idd celebrations on the side of the Muslims was a platform to make a public outcry to the government of Uganda to stabilize the peace of the nation .Muslim cadres urged security forces not to abuse their positions of authority by mistreating civilians but should rather act in accordance with the law. During the processions, the bond of unity was emphasized and people were encouraged to live harmoniously.
