Shortly after the Makerere University Electoral Commission tribunal announced that there will be a guild presidential re-election at the School of Education and external studies, the supporters of Bazil Mwotta have swore not to step at the pollling stations, saying that their candidate won with a landslide victory.

While carrying tree branches and roaming around the University today, the clearly angered students said that they do not welcome the rulling of the tribunal that a re-election be held, adding that it is time wasting and may give chance to the petitioner, Roy Semobaga to bribe the voters.

"We are going to strike till the day our guild president, [Bazil] Mwiotta is sworn in. A re-election  is likely to cause serious irregularities in favour of Roy [Semboga]. We are not going to allow any thing like a re-election," a supporter of Mwotta said, while carrying an iron bar in his hands.

Roy Semboga a former guild presidential candidate and a runner up from the election results that were announced by Roy Ndaula the Makerere Univerisity electoral chairman, on Friday March 11 at 11:00pm, petitioned to the tribunal claiming that the election was severeluy marred by irregularities.

The tribunal in its rulling ordered for a vote recount from the school of Education. After a recount was done, it was found out that some votes belonging to the petitioner had not been tallied. it relied on this to order for a re-election at the shool.

Learning about the recount, the suppoters of Mwotta surrounded the admnistrative building at the univeristy, where the tribunal was sitting, and demanded the petition be annuled. Realisng their efforts were futile, they went to Kikoni, a residential area for the Univeristy students, at mid night, and started rioting. Today's demonstration has been a continuatuation of that of yesterday.
