Students of Agribusiness management at Makerere University under their umbrella, Makerere University Agribusiness Students (MUABS), today morning cleaned Wandegeya market as part of their community outreach program.

This is their third day into the Agribusiness week that started on Monday, September 12 with the visit to Kalerwe market, where they extended the same service.

According to the association patron, Elizabeth B Kuteesa, the movement was aiming at sensitizing the traders on how they can store and add value to their products.

"Our biggest aim is to make sure that we teach these traders how to add value to their goods and at least acquire some good money," said Kuteesa.

She added that through this community outreach program, students are also able to meet and share ideas with other people already in the field of their study.

The association president, Brian Ogenroth, said the university students resorted to visiting markets as a sign of giving back to the community.

"We should always give back to our community... Uganda depends on agriculture most," he said.

However, the efforts to reach the management of the market were futile as the offices were closed and could not be reached by all means.

The same students visited Kalerwe and Nakasero markets on Monday and Tuesday, with support from the presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID).
