Makerere Journalism and Communication students were on Friday evening thrown into excitement after their department head, Dr William Tayebwa, informed them about his success in getting new frequency that will see the treasured Campus FM back on air waves.

Campus Fm was closed in 2009 after the university failed to pay UCC taxes that amounted to Shs 15 million.

While speaking at the first ever Annual Media Expo and Book fair launch that took place on Friday March 11 from the Senate conference Hall, Dr Tayebwa said that as a head of department, he had secured application letter from Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), to apply for a new frequency.

“I can assure you that now Campus FM is getting back on the air waves. we have received the application letter from UCC to apply for the new frequency…what had delayed the process is the digital migration process… very soon Campus Fm will be reopened,” Dr Tyebwa assured the students.
