Mbarara City registered their first win of the league today, humbling giants Express FC 3-1 at their new home Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

Despite Mbarara City's 1-0 defeat to the newly promoted Ndejje in their first game last week, Livingstone Mbabazi’s side put up a fight in front of their home fans at Kavumba against the Red Eagles.

Mbarara’s new signing, Karim Ndugwa, opened the scoring in the 12th minute of the game although the hosts’ lead didn’t last for more than six minutes when Mubarak Nsubuga came for the rescue and leveled the game which boosted the visitors’ morale.

Although Kefa Kisala’s boys had gained momentum, the Ankole lads’ young star Ivan Eyam had different ideas for the game when he restored the host’s lead in the 39th minute with a fantastic rebound from the corner that made Mbarara to lead at half time.

Within seven minutes after the second half had kicked off, Hilary Mukundane doubled Mbarara’s lead which left the hopes of the Wankulukuku based Red Eagles tied and eventually defined the result of the game.

Mabarara City will host Maroons FC at Kavumba Grounds on Saturday 20th October 2018 while Express will visit Police FC at Star Times Stadium, Lugogo on 16th, October, 2018.
