Makerere University Admits 39 for Bachelor of Journalism and Communication on District Quota

At least 39 students have been admitted to Makerere University Department of Journalism and communication on district quota sponsorship scheme.
The list includes 29 girls and ten boys selected from various regions including the newly created districts.
Mr Charles Ssentongo, the Makerere University deputy registrar, undergraduate admissions, says copies of the entire admission list including those admitted to department of Journalism and communication will soon be sent to their respective districts for verification, which should be done within two weeks.
The Department of Journalism and Communication confirmed the receipt of the new entrant’s list on the programme saying “the admission is provisional pending verification by the different districts.”
“We congratulate and welcome you to the Department as you start your professional journey,” the department said a statement on official website.
The district quota system was introduced in 2004 to enable bright students from underprivileged schools in remote districts get university education.
According to the admission guidelines, preference is given to candidates who sat A’ level at schools in their home districts.
