In order to fit in the changing economy of Uganda, former Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) Chairman Fagil Mandy has told graduates called upon the youth to develop multiple skills.
He was addressing university students at a Career Guidance and Job fair at Kyambogo University on Friday, October 31st, 2014.
Mandy urged students to engage in income generating activities, alongside their studies, citing that while he was a student at Kyambogo in 1968, he engaged in a number of activities including athletics, drama, and leadership.
He advised students to ask themselves and answer the eight questions that will enable them to succeed.
“What do you spend your thoughts on? Where do you spend your emotions? Where do you spend your energy on? What do you spend your time on? What do you spend your money on? What do you do with your space? What do you do with the environment? What do you do with the people around you?” Mandy asked.
He further emphasized the issue of time management.
“A student who does not put on a watch at campus is backward. A graduate who can’t keep time will never do anything,” he said.
At the event, students listened to other speakers, such as Ethan Musolini, prof. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya Kyambogo, University acting Vice Chancellor, Ms Priscilla Mwandha, Uganda Breweries Limited Human Resource Manager, Ms. Julian Omara, Executive Director Delight Uganda Ltd, and Anatori Kamugisha, Akright Estates Managing Director.
Ethan Musolini, a Motivational Speaker, Consultant, Author and Success Expert called upon students to market themselves, associate with the right people, strive for the best and be positive in all what they do.
“Negative people see problem in every opportunity while positive people see opportunities in every problem,” he said.
The event was organized by Daily Monitor at Kyambogo University.
