Magyezi: If Igara people refuse the bill, I will withdraw it

The Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi, who came to limelight for backing the removal of presidential age limit, has this morning said he will drop the bill if the people in his constituency refuse it.

“If I got to my people and they say they don’t support it [the scrapping of the age limit], I will not support it. I do respect my people,” Magyezi promised.

The controversial MP was responding to a question from Joel Ssenyonyi when he was appearing on Morning At NTV show with human rights lawyer Nicholas Opiyo.

Makerere students win Shs 900,000 from cyber law competition

Winners of the cyber law students' competition that was organised by Makerere department of Journalism and Communication in conjunction with Action Aid Uganda have been awarded Shs 900,000.

This was during today's Cyber law symposium that was held at Makerere main hall. The event followed that of Friday September 22 where students made presentations on Cyber law and freedom of expression in Uganda, and were graded by a panel of five judges who included their lecturers.

Makerere admits 40 on government sponsorship for bachelor of laws

Makerere on Tuesday June 6 released admission lists for 40 students who have been awarded government sponsorship to study bachelor of laws.

Of these, 38 are from direct entry (senior six leavers) while 2 are from mature-age entry.

According to the the list, Kings College Buddo topped with nine while Uganda Martyrs, Namugongo came second with five students. St Mary's College, Kisubi had three.

Of the admitted students, 18 are females while the rest are male. When compared with last year's admission, there has been a decline by 11 students.
