The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the Democratic Party have today fronted candidates for the guild presidential race following highly heated races.

Andrew Mujinya beat off competition from Lillian Aber, Chark Benson, Naula Bole Marjorine and Edgar Tushabe to bag the FDC ticket while Sarah Asera beat Calvin Bakulumpagi, Moses Mulira, and Ivan Bwowe to hold the DP ticket.

FDC primaries took place at Nkrumah and were presided over by Mr. Mugisha Muntu the party president while DP held theirs at the Guild canteen.

Through Mujinya, FDC seeks to retain the guild presidency while DP will struggle to stop FDC from winning this race two times in a row.

In 2010/11, DP’s Shaban Ssenkubuge won while FDC’s Denis Oneka won the 201/12 race. In 2012/2013, DP’s Ivan Katta won while FDC’s Ann Adeke won the 2013/14 race.

The winner in the Wednesday 19th March race will head Makerere’s 80th guild.
