Sylivia Tamale, a law professor at Makerere University has blasted the Ethics and Integrity minister Fr Simon Lokodo for issuing arrest warranty for Dr Stella Nyanzi when she staged a nude protest.

While delivering her inaugural professorial lecture titled : Nudity, protest and the law in Uganda at Makerere, yesterday, Prof Tamale said Lokodo is impartially enforcing the law which does not conform with the principles of the discipline.

Makerere University council meeting that was held today and meant to end lecturers' strike has yielded no results after the lecturers trashed all the resolutions that were made.

According to the chairman of the council, Eng Dr Charles Wana-Etyem, lecturer's issue of incentive arrears will be resolved next month.

Lecturers at Makerere went on strike on Wednesday and stopped teaching both day and evening students, but it’s unbelievable how the university administration and students have since gone silent about the matter.

The lecturers are demanding for incentive arrears for the past eight months totaling to Shs 40 billion.

With just a few weeks remaining to end of semester exams, Makerere University lecturers have again gone on strike, demanding for incentive arrears totaling to Shs 28billion.

Staff Association (MUASA) yesterday, lecturers said the university administration has remained oblivious of the fact that they have gone eight months without getting this money, something that has left them with no option but to lay down their tools.

Makerere University administration, through the public relations officer Ritah Namisango, has this evening come out to explain today's suspension of 15 students.

According to Namisango, the vice chancellor, currently John Ddumba-Ssentamu, has all the rights to take action against any student.

Makerere University has this morning reportedly suspended 15 students for stealing 200 forks and damaging the university's property, reports Campusbee.

It's reported that on October 18, 2016, these resident students incited violence and invaded the University Hall's Kitchen at about 6:30pm and damaged property worth millions, during a protest against what they called poor meals.

Imran Kasujja, the speaker of the 82nd guild government has shifted his offices from the guild offices to a private room in Livingstone hall, citing discomfort as the cause.

According to Kasujja, the environment at the guild offices isn't comfortable anymore to allow him conduct his duties effectively as a leader.

An administrator at Makerere University is in spotlight for allegedly conning a student to help him with irregular admission into the university.

Elias Nuwagaba, the custodian of the main administration block, reportedly convinced the student that he would help him secure admission for a course in Medicine and Surgery at a fee of Shs 8m.

A newly released document by Noah Kiyimba the minister of Information in Buganda has pinned Bukedde as a number one enemy of the kingdom for circulating biased and inaccurate information.

The document issued out on October 18, titled "Ekiwandiiko Ekitongole ku Nkola y'ettoffaali" (an official statement about the importance of Ettoffaali) was responding to a story published by a Bukedde newspaper on  October 17

Makerere University guild president Roy Ssembogga has finally acknowledged receipt of resignation letter from his now former minister of research and computer technology, Yosam Bagumirabingi.

"I officially received his resignation letter yesterday, Monday 17th October 2016 and the hunt is on for a suitable replacement" Ssembogga said.
