Government Extends SAGE Scheme to Sheema

 

Government has launched the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) programme in Sheema District, South-western Uganda.

SAGE is a government programme meant to support and empower older persons in Uganda to cope with their unique vulnerabilities. Under the programme, Uganda’s senior citizens (60 years and above) are each given 25,000/= (Twenty-five thousand shillings) per month to benefit them and their families.

Students Speak Out On New Mulago Hospital Charges

 

Many Makerere University students are disappointed with the recently-released prices for services at the new Mulago Specialised Women and Neonatal Hospital. The students journalism@mak talked to say the cost is too high and eliminates the ordinary Ugandan.

"How will a person who sells 1kg of maize between UGX 200 and UGX 300 afford the services of millions at this hospital?" said Tumukunde Brian, a year two Journalism student.
