BREAKING: Makerere Guild Prime minister resigns, Paralyzes Ssembogga government

Jotham Yamu Burobuto, the Makerere 82nd guild Prime minister has paralyzed the Roy Ssembogga government and consequently shocked the Makerere students' fraternity when he submitted his resignation letter dated January 5, 2017.

"I have ceased all responsibilities, duties and obligations pertaining the office of Prime minister as per the guild constitution from today, 5th January, 2017," reads part of his resignation letter.

Makerere indefinitely suspends paying striking lecturers

Makerere University council has, in a bid to enforce the presidential directive of indefinitely closing the campus, suspended financial transactions where payments for incentive arrears of striking lecturers fall.

While meeting on Thursday, November 3, council resolved: "All financial transactions should be suspended except for critical cases within the approved budget which shall be approved by the Vice Chancellor and communication to the University council."

BREAKING: Makerere lecturers vote to continue with strike

After a four-hour meeting of Makerere lecturers under their umbrella body, Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA), they have again resolved to continue with their strike that started on Wednesday last week.

"We have unanimously agreed to continue with the strike pakalast. We have been patient enough and we can't wait any longer. We shall only return to classes after all our money is paid," said Lawrence Mugisha the assistant general secretary, MUASA.
