Cell phones have become a necessity for many people throughout the world. The ability to keep in touch with family, friends, business associates and access to Email are some of the reasons for the rising importance of phones.
And with the emergence of Smart phones, cell phones are not only capable of receiving and placing calls, but also access internet, act as cameras, recorders and one can even access Television and radio on that phone
Despite their necessity in people's daily life, scientific studies indicate that cell phones produce Electro Magnetic Radiation which is dangerous to human health.
According to research made by Australian Health Research Institute in 1997, nearly one third of the world's population is liable to some form of ear, eye, breast, brain cancer and other body disorders such as migraine headaches, heart problems, memory loss, low sperm motility in men and chronic fatigue anon others. These are brought by too much exposure to direct radiations from electrical appliances like phones.
Electromagnetic radiations are produced by the transfer towers that assist in the transfer of signals from cell phone to cell phone.
Doctor Sumaiyah Nalumansi, a health worker at Jorum Hosipital in Kawempe, explained how EMFs work on a human body. She said that EMFs inhibit the immune system's ability to protect the body from the formation of pre-cancerous cells.
She added that when the body's immune system is compromised, the body is more liable to contracting a number of antigens that it can't natural fight off which in the end pave way for cancerous cells.
She advised people to reduce the amount of use of cell phones, to turn them off when they're not using them and they should avoid keeping cell phones near or over our hearts or testicles for men.
Other electrical appliance that produce EMFs include, microwave ovens, computer screens, masts, power lines and many others which use electricity to operate.
