Makerere Releases Fresh Crucial Guidelines For Joining Students

Following delayed opening, the academic registrar Makerere University, Alfred Masikye-Namoah has released new guidelines for students joining on undergraduate and post graduate programmes.

According to -Masikye-Noamah, contrary to the usual 2-week orientation period, this time it will only be for four hours and on a single day.

"Orientation will take place on Friday Aug 26 from 9-1pm in the freedom square," he wrote in a communique sent to this website.

Masikye-Namoah added that respective colleges will have their orientation on Aug 26.

CHANGE OF PROGRAMMES

For students who would wish to change their programmes, they will do so in a period less than a week and at a fee.

"Each student who may wish to change his/her programme/subject is required to pay application fee of Shs 6,000 plus bank charges to Stanbic Bank, Post Bank, Centenary and Crane Banks.

"Only for A' level applicants; from Monday Aug 22 to Aug 26 at level 3, Senate Building," he elaborated.

Degree holders who may also wish to change programme will pick forms from Room No. 315 level 3 in Senate Building.

Masikye-Namoah advised students who are intending to change programmes to do only if they met the cutt-off points of the programme they are changing to.

"Registration will take place at respective colleges/schools from Monday Aug 22 to Friday Sept 9.

On Thursday, the non-teaching staff called off their strike which had started on Aug 1. This promoted the University Council to resolve that Makerere will open On Aug 20 for freshers and Aug 21 for continuing students.
