Makerere Univerisity students on the program of Ethics and Human rights have today morning taken demonstrating a notch higher by performing a ritual in front of the  main building, protesting the scrapping off of their course.

The angry students, who belong to the school  of Liberal and Performing Arts, were led by their GRC, Paul Sanya, who said they have used all the other means and have not yielded results for fthem. They added that they petitioned the senate last week on Friday, but did not get any reply.

"Lets show our dissatisifaction this way and may be they will consider us," Said Henry Lubega, a third year student on the same programme.

They also said that they will demonstrate until their Programme is put back as a full course, and not as a course unit as the university has decided. "We either win or the administration loses, but we shall not give up," said the students, who were attentively looking at the performance of the ritual at the main building.

However, the DPC Wandegeya, Brians Ampaire , said that the students were orderly and exercising their rights and they (Police) are there to ensure order. in addition, he requested the administration gto come out and  give a clear clarificaton about the issue.

Earlier in March, the Vice Chancellor, Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu said that when a course is scrapped off, the students already enrolled on it can never be affected.

However, the students say that even if they are left to keep studying the progeramme, they wll never compete in the job market because their would be employers will alwayys refer to their course as useless.
