Candidates vying for Makerere’s top leadership position have expressed their dissatisfaction with the 81st Guild president, Bala David Bwiruka. Referring to his regime as incompetent, in the recent interviews with journalism@mak. They became furious as they commented on the leadership of the regime

Roy Ssemboga said; “Students didn’t choose wisely, he was un- experienced with leadership. Over 100 students missed out on graduation because of system failure, where was he as their leader? There are other challenges that affected students which he didn’t even try to address.

The other problem is he chose his cabinet wrongly, how do you get a first year student of economics and make him ICT minister, he is inexperienced with leadership.”

Simon Ssenyonga an independent candidate had this to say “Both the leaders and the students have a problem. The leaders are not accountable to students and students want to extort money from a candidate who will first get back his or her money back, when he or she gets in office, but the biggest problem is this notion of a fighter, the current guild president won an election in just three days, he never went through the test and sieve process and at the end of the day it’s the students paying the price.”

Kasozi Ismail A.k.a Rasta also expressed his dissatisfaction with Bala’s leadership, “Honestly speaking I am not contented at all. I wouldn’t want to judge the man, he could have done something but I personally have felt absolute nothing from his leadership and I am disappointed”

The guild presidential race has twelve candidates and these are Mandela Nkunda, Dick Rodgers, Bazil Mwotta, Kalyango Shafic, Kasozi Ismail, Kiyingi Denis, Ssenyonga Simon, Ssemboga Roy, Nviri Sospeter, Nsubunga Umar, Nasala Brian and Fred Luyinda.

This race will be concluded with voting due 11th march this year and one candidate will succeed the current guild president, His Excellency Bala David Bwiruka.
