MAKERERE - Mary Stuart Hall has finally put a fire extinguisher to help in case of a fire out break.

This has been put in place this week at the wall right opposite the TV room inside the hall. "There has been a great need of a fire extinguisher, it being a hall of residence that houses quite a big number of students," Jenipher Magara, one of the custodians of Mary Stuart hall remarked. She adds on that the fire that broke out in the hall during the holidays was an eye opener that their lives were insecure, prompting them to act so fast.

Yvonne Asiimwe Ahumuza,  the Chairlady Mary Stuart Hall says "I am so much previledged and humbled for this great achievement. For it has been in my regime that this hall has gotten a fire extinguisher which has been a necessity that we didn't have here." She however says that one fire extinguisher is not enough for a big hall like Mary Stuart and she is going to work tirelessly with the Hall warden, custodians and fellow leaders so that more fire extinguishers can be put up preferably on every floor.

Mary Atugonza, a third year student residing in Mary Stuart hall says "I feel a little bit secure now because I know that in case fire breaks out, it might be put down quite easily".

"Following the fire that broke out during holidays and burnt a lot of property to ash including the canteens, saloon, photocopiers to mention but a few, the need of a fire extinguisher has been so urgent and we are so much grateful for this achievement," Racheal Ndaada, the GRC Mary Stuart hall remarked.
