The police has changed the venue for Amama Mbabazi’s first rally after what was chosen by the organizers was rejected. Mbabazi’s first upcountry rally was scheduled to take place today, Monday 9th at The Mayors Gardens, also known as Lorry Park but has been changed to Golf Course.

The southern region police spokes person Mr. Noah Sserunjogi said that they changed the venue to prevent chaos interrupting business because mayors gardens is located in Masaka town while golf course is located half a kilometre from Masaka town.

He refuted allegations that the police action was meant to let down the former prime minister,

“Golf Course is more spacious than Mayors Gardens. This is not the first time we are blocking political rallies from taking place at the Mayor’s Gardens and I believe that nobody will consider this as witch-hunt to the former NRM secretary general.”

President Museveni also kick start his campaign in Luwero. His campaign team is spear headed by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and the NRM Secretary General Lumumba

Dr. Kiiza Besigye will be in Rukungiri and his team is led by Birigwa, who is the FDC party chairman, Salaam Musumba (his deputy), party president Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu and Wafula Oguttu, the leader of opposition in parliament.

Venancius Baryamureba will be in Kayunga while abed Bwanika will be in Kamuli and Buyende.
