KAMPALA-  Following the reported torture of Members of Parliament including Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake, sections of the public took to streets demanding for unconditional release of the legislators.

Various parts of the city on Monday including Nasser Road and central business district were rocked by riots putting businesses on standoff.

Traders told this website that the riots didn’t bring a good working atmosphere.

The chaos which started in the afternoon saw Kisseka Market vandalized by protestors while others including street vendors reportedly lost their property as they tried to run for their dear lives.

Rose Nassali, a business woman selling fruits in Kisekka market said they were disturbed by the chaotic situation revealing that she made great loss.

“I didn’t work for fear of my life, she said adding that, “I made a number of loses but am working hard to recover it all”

She said that they spent the day hiding in closed buildings to save their lives.

Nassali further noted that revamping the market will take close to two years.

Many others traders revealed that they have lost a lot in the protests also hitting out to security forces that such excessive use of offices was unnecessary

“It is going to take us time to recover the lost merchandise and to re-construct the market,” said one of the traders.

Efforts to talk to market authority have since remained futile as calls to the market chairman remain unanswered.
