Students of Makerere Business School (MUBS) have been congesting the Bursar’s Office to clear for examination permits.

Some students complained about loopholes in the Academic Integrated Management System (AIMS) which is being used for the first time at MUBS and Makerere main campus.

“This system is unfavorable for those of us who get tuition from our sweat, some of us don’t intend to pay tuition late as assumed by the system,” said Owakubariho Dickson, a first year student of Bachelor of Commerce.

The AIMS that started at Makerere and its campuses this academic year, requires a surcharge on tuition fee of 20,000 UGX per month of delay, but the Academic Registrar last week denounced the surcharges on late payment until the system is streamlined which affects all Makerere campuses.

For clearance at MUBS, students are required to present the payment slip and verify with the Bursar’s Office, then register the course units being done and get their examination permits from the Faculties.

“This is happening because most students pay tuition in the dying hours of the semester and personally I cannot blame the system,” said Mukasa Timothy, a second year student of Bachelor of Business Administration.

Examinations begin on Monday, 19th November, 2018 and some students are worried that they will not have processed their examination permits since there is slowness in the entire process.
