Former Makerere University students who finished their masters programs in Sweden have called upon current students to apply for different courses in Swedish universities.

The Makerere alumni have explained that studying in Sweden has a number of benefits including scholarships from both the government and the university.

Esther Akello, one of the former students explains that "there are so many opportunities and benefits when you chose to study in Sweden." According to Akello, one can have a part-time job as a student without a working permit. She also adds that there are high chances of getting employment anywhere in the world after studies in Sweden.

There is also an allowance of six months after studying given to a person to look for a job and a working permit as Samuel Lumu explains. "If you decide to stay in Sweden, you are given a period of six months to look for a work permit." He added that Sweden has many potential employers who are ready to take in good workers.

The alumni have also credited Sweden for being a racism and segregation free environment making it healthy for one to carry on with studies.

Mary Joyce Nankya says that "though the blacks are very few in Sweden, the country is multicultural." She adds that the only challenge she faced was coldness especially when she went in the northern part of the country.

The Mak- Study in Sweden Chapter alumni said this during a presentation organized by the Chapter at Makerere University last week. The alumni got their masters degrees in different areas like global communication and development communication among others.

The presentation was organized by Study in Sweden in partnership with Makerere University, Sweden Institute and the Embassy of Sweden in Kampala.
