Uganda Kobs Stun South Sudan in Late Show

The Uganda under-23 football team produced a stunning late goal to win a stubborn South Sudan side in the U-23 Afcon 2019 qualifiers at the Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Kizza Mustafa gleefully dispatched a penalty in stoppage time after a tackle on Uganda’s goal hunter Steven Mukwala who was fouled in the box.

Wasswa Bbosa's boys started the game with confidence and dominated the early minutes with midfielders Lawrence Bukenya and Shafik Kagimu exchanging passes in the mid of the pack, but failed to convert any chance till the break.

With the beginning of the second half, both sides shared possession as the South Sudanese also looked organized.

The Ugandans didn’t give up and they were rewarded for their persistence in the added minutes after the end of the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, the goal scorer Mustafa Kizza says he is happy with the goal. “I am so happy with the goal and I have been praying for it,” Kizza said.

Coach Bbosa however applauded the visitors for their had work. “South Sudan has improved as a country and they played at their goal mouth,” he commended.
