Stella Nyanzi's Son Kato Embarrassed, Psychologically Tortured Over Mum's Nude Protest
Submitted by Christopher Tusiime on
They say what goes around comes back around. The day Dr Stella Nyanzi, a renowned research fellow at Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) staged a nude protest, she probably ignored the repercussions of her of this action on her children.
Where as the research fellow is currently in South Africa, her son, only identified as Kato, is facing the anticipated consequences of her act.
According to Nyazi, Agram, a P.4 Social Studies (SST) teacher at Kampala Parents School, has psychologically tortured Kato by shouting at him, in class, that he is from a family of criminals and that the mum too is a number one criminal.
HOW IT STARTED
Kato's troubles started when he laughed in class during an SST lesson taught by the very Agram.
"Teacher Agram told everyone to stop writing. A boy called Shema continued writing. Teacher clapped loudly and the boy jumped up in shock. It was funny, Mama Stella. So I laughed," Kato told the mother during a phone call that Nyanzi transcribed on Facebook on Saturday.
Kato added that the teacher told the whole class about how his mother Nyanzi undressed in public.
Due to the Psychological torture the little nine-year-old Kato was made to go through and the embarrassment, he had no option but to find comfort from his mother.
NYANZI FIRES BACK
A furious Nyanzi today took to her usual battlefield, Facebook, and fired back at Agram.
"Teacher Agram, Ssebo I am not my son. My son is not me. Stop confusing the two. Threatening children with corporal punishment
is abuse of their rights. Psychological torture from threatened violence is much worse than actual violence. Stop abusing your pupils," the twin mother wrote on her Faacebook page.
She repeatedly warned Agram against intimidating her son, adding: "Silence protects perpetrators of violence. My son begged me not to write about this incident on Facebook, for fear of the consequences on his life in you class. I refused to be silent. I expose bullying in school in order to protect my children. Writing protects me and mine.
"What crime did I commit? Where was I charged? When was I convicted? Tell us what you know about my criminal record... Focus on why Kato is with you. Focus on your duties of using chalk, atlas, globe, campus, whiteboard markers, red pen and whatever else you need to teach my son SST. I pay school fees so that my son can get a good education. This does not include threatening my son, insulting
me or our family. Teach SST to your P4 pupils. Stop masquerading around as a judge," Nyazi warned.
However, efforts to get a comment from Agram remained fruitless as when the known Agram from Kampala Parents School was contacted, he declined to give a comment and quickly ended the call.
For now, we can only pray for little Kato to recover from the psychological torture, and that the classmates forget about the teacher's comments about him as he can end up being stigmatised.
