The long-awaited Journalism and Communication Fellowship has finally begun. The Christian congregation, which began on Tuesday 5th November, brings together students from the Journalism and Communication Fraternity.

Franko Olong, the Fellowship convener, expressed optimism at the turn up. “The turn up is progressively increasing,” he said

Seera Vivian, a fellowship member exclaimed with joy; “It was good, fun and the preaching was so good!”

Students who have not attended any of these fellowships also promised to attend the next one saying they could not afford to miss what they heard people say about this gathering. “I’m attending next Tuesday. I can’t risk missing. I want to be inspired. I also can’t miss the blessings,” said Timothy Atwiine, a Communication major.

It takes place every Tuesday in Lecture Room Four between 1pm and 2pm and runs under the slogan Streamlining Truth. The fellowship members share scriptures, inspiration, and engage in praise and worship.

Olong was happy at the turn up but was hopeful that more students from all the four years would join the fellowship. He was also optimistic that more students from other departments, schools and colleges would also join. He also plans to have lecturers on board.

He has also launched a facebook page under the name JCO Pioneers Fellowship whose membership whose likes, he said, were astronomical. “It’s on this page that members will share more scripture and revelation as well as get live updates,” he said.

Olong was confident that the fellowship is a prophecy to the department’s imminent status. “It (the fellowship) is a prophetic event for the upcoming school of Journalism and Communication” he said

The fellowship now in its second week of existence is one of the many that exist at Africa’s best university. Fellowships cut across religions, schools, hostel, halls and hall solidarities, departments and associations.

The JCO fellowship is the first of its kind since the Department of Journalism and Communication began in 1988.
