Students at Makerere University have intensified pleas for extension the semester following the recent student unrest and protests against the Fees Policy.
The more than two-weeks protests against the 15% tuition increment protests were sparked off by the 15 female students’ match to parliament on October 22nd, 2019 spearheaded by the female caucus of the 85th guild government.

Makerere University students’ morale has plummeted faster after the three turbulent weeks characterised by tuition increment strikes.
The students’ annual cultural gala organised by the Julius Kateregga–led 85th guild according to participants is not as vibrant as the past galas participants say.
Salin Aseko, one of the student participants in the 2019 cultural gala says the last two and half weeks have proven to be their greatest test of patience and faith.

It's funny how neighboring one of the best Universities can turn your dream home into the place of nightmares. The neighborhoods of the University are calling upon different stakeholders to always intervene and calm down the students since they destroy lots of their property as well as crippled their businesses whenever they are striking.
Ronald Ahereza, a shopkeeper in Kikumi Kikumi said that since the strike started, his earnings have completely dropped amidst a number of the dependents. This has made him fail to pay for the school fees of his children.
