Makerere University students were left in shock when a tree fell hitting a waiting taxi that left four people injured at the institutions main gate.

The accident occurred at around 7pm on Saturday and left the taxi in pieces.

Eye witnesses account that the driver of the taxi sustained serious head injuries after attempts to escape from the falling tree.

"He was in the taxi, he was to load next. When a colleague shouted that a tree was falling, he wanted to drive away the car, but another car was parked in the front and another behind. He couldn't turn to the road. When he decided to jump out of the car, it was late. The tree hit and caused serious damages to his head." narrated an eye witness.

The identity of the other three is still unclear but a boda-boda cyclist and a student a believed to be among the injured.

Similarly, eye witness believes the cause for the falling of the tree has been the current heavy rains.

By press time, a fire brigade was on standby with the police cutting the three into pieces to clear the road and remove the taxi.
