Students at Makerere University Business School (MUBS) are nowadays filling lecture rooms for discussions more than they do even during normal lectures.

“This is what has helped us all along. Uur students often come requesting for discussion time with them; a vast majority of them are really determined and perform even beyond our expectations,” said Kasoozi Ronald, an Accounting junior lecturer at MUBS.

For long, MUBS located in Nakawa has been praised for producing accredited professionals with good grades.

They have two coursework weeks in which they do major tests and assignments. However, they sometimes have irregular tests and other assignments during the course of the semester. Many students praise this method of learning as the best.

But towards end of semester examinations, the students usually met up in large groups to discuss. “We always encourage our students to share knowledge, for it’s the only way of discovering new things. Business calculations are quite technical by their nature. You cannot sit and pass. You must talk and share concepts if you want to pass,” said Najemba Grace, an Accounting lecturer.

Biryomumisho Wiston, a BBA student in year two, says students at MUBS generally have a reading culture.

“We read even when we don’t have papers awaiting soon. Recently, we were at MUBS Mbarara Campus for the same. We enjoy doing this. Often we help our brothers and sisters in year one in their discussions,” said Biryomumisho.

The examinations are setting in on Monday 19th November and will end on 8th December, 2018.
