Decide Your Priorities, says Dr. Suruma

The former minister for finance planning and economic development Dr. Ezra Suruma has encouraged the youth to find a way to decide their priorities.

Suruma who has been tipped for Makerere chancellorship made the remarks at the launching of The Great Ankole Makerere University Students Association (GAMUSA) yesterday, Sunday 8th at Makerere University Mian hall.

 “There are many things that you can do with your life in your time but all those things are not equally important. Find a way to decide what your priorities are because it helps you focus, your time your energy and your resources,” he said.

He appreciated the efforts of the association leaders to sprout out culture because culture is a very important aspect in life. “Culture is extremely important way of life system of belief source of self respect.”

Dr. Suruma represented the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni who contributed 10 million shillings towards the development of the association

The association patrons Mr. James Tumusiime and Dr. Gumoshabe Gilbert pledged their support to the association. They encouraged the students to use culture as a source of identity, they promised to help the association and promote culture and help any student in publish any writing in runyankole/rukiga language.

The association president Mwesigwa Milton said that the association will do its best to retrieve the fallen culture and fight moral backslides.

 In his speech, Milton said that he sees success already in the one year old association and he called upon the other cultural associations to work together to limit moral decay. He blamed evil deeds to stem from neglecting culture.

"I beg that we keep together, solve any difficulties amicably and request for assistance of any form from any corners. Together we shall succeed." Milton said.
