The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Makerere University Chapter is to donate relief items to Bududa landslide victims. This will be done in partnership with Bugema University and International Community of Red Cross.

The group will donate an assortment of items including clothes, shoes, mattresses, blankets and other basic needs.

FDC Makerere Chapter started collecting the items weeks back and has successfully collected over six sacks of relief items. They were transported to the party headquarters in Najanankumbi on to be transported to Bududa, and party members are still collecting more.

According to the president of FDC MUK chapter, Edison Kahigi, they took up the initiative as a way of responding to the tragedy that left many people in Bududa homeless and destroyed everything they had.

"As a party, we stand for humanitarian value and virtues. We wish everyone to be happy and have peace," he says.

Katiti Newman, the Guild President of Bugema University and a member of FDC said he is happy to be part of this cause because a good leader should lead by example.

Nalubega Shamila, a student at Makerere University, says she was touched by what happened in Bududa and the only way she could help was to donate items she was not using.

Bududa district experienced heavy rainfall that resulted into landslides three weeks back which left many people homeless and over forty people dead.
