How To Access Kampala, Entebbe Free Internet That Starts Today

The ICT minister Frank Tumwebaze yesterday said the trial provision of free wireless internet for Kampala and Entebbe people will start today October 1.

While addressing journalists at Uganda media centre, Tumwebaze added that the wireless internet will only be accessible between 6pm and 6am during week days, and from 3pm to 6am during weekend.

HOW TO ACCESS THE INTERNET

1. For access to the service look out for hotspots named #MYUG.

2. Simply Sign-Up via the access page with the following details:
a) First & Last name

b) Email address

c) Mobile Number

d) Preferred Username

e) Access Password

f) Date of Birth

g) Sex

It is a one time sign-up process meaning that once all the information required above is provided, next time you find the hotspot, you will just be connected.

Buganda Road

Ben Kiwanuka Street

Johnston Street

Luwum Street

Kampala Road

Nakasero Market

Kololo Airstrip

Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA)

Lugogo Cricket Oval

Makerere University Business

School (MUBS)

Village Mall

Middle East

Bugolobi Flats

More areas, according to Tumwebaze, are to be connected in the next financial year, but Makerere University has not been included.

This project is being handled by ministry of ICT and National Guidance through its mandated agency National Information
Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U).

Government injected over $100m (sh330b) in the construction of the National Data Transmission Backbone Infrastructure.
