Makerere University football team, the 2012 inter-university football league champions on Tuesday held 2013 champions, Kampala University to a goalless draw at the Makerere University sports grounds.

The highly heated group one game saw both teams’ fans disrupt the match by walking into the pitch.

Both teams had chances but were unable to convert them into goals. KU also secured a red card which Mak was incapable of using to their advantage.

3 more universities join the inter-varsity league
12 more teams will participate in this year’s inter-university league. The new teams are Gulu University, Busitema University and Uganda Christian University.
The teams which have been in the league include; Makerere University, Kampala University (KU), Kampala International University (KIU), Makerere University Business School and Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Others are Nkumba University, Ndejje University and Kyambogo University and Uganda Martyrs University.

Last year’s league
Kampala University who led the table since the start of the second round of the interuniversity football league competition, won the league with 35 points, four points ahead of second-placed Nkumba University.

Makerere University Business School came third with 26 points while Makerere University emerged fourth with 22 points. Ndejje University took the fifth position with 16 points, Mbarara University of Science and Technology emerged seventh with just 5 points while Uganda Martyr’s University, Uganda Martyrs’ University stayed at the bottom of the table with only 3 points.
