Journalism Head New School Dean

The Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication (DJC), Dr. Aaron Mushengyezi has been voted the new Dean for the school of Languages Literature and Communication (SLLC). Dr. Mushengyezi polled 46 while his challenger, Dr. Edith Natukunda Togboa, polled 23 in a Friday November 29th election at SLLC.
In an interview shortly after his election, Dr. Mushengyezi, was thankful for the overwhelming victory. “I am overwhelmed by the support from the entire school that have made this landslide victory possible, and that challenges me deliver,” he said.

Best public speakers 2013 crowned

The Department of Journalism and Communication (DJC), Makerere University, has awarded the best public speaking students following a highly heated race.
Robert Kitenda Gobbi and Fredrick Magonga Musisi won the awards for best public speakers 2013 The Art of Public Speaking course.
Kitenda scooped the grade category beating four contenders, to take home a trophy, while Magonga lifted the certificate crown beating 5 other contestants.

ARE STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATIONS ACADEMICALLY BENEFICIAL?

Walking around Makerere University, one will rarely miss posters informing those that care to read about association meetings. The posters are in all colours and sizes and are strategically pinned in all places; including on walkways. These, undoubtedly, are a lucid testimony of associational life at Africa’s fourth best university. These associations are premised on, among others, tribe, religion, departments, schools, colleges and former schools. The core objective, many would imagine, is to facilitate academic excellence.
