Makerere Wins 3 Awards at 2018 Media Challenge

 

Makerere University bagged three awards from the just concluded annual Media Challenge event that brought students from different media training institutions to showcase their skills.

A 24-person strong team from the Department of Journalism and Communication last week represented the university at the annual event at Kampala Serena Hotel.

Reinstated Student Demands Apology From VC

 

Obbo Johnson, one of the formerly suspended students has written to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, four days after his reinstatement.

In his letter dated 19th November 2018, former guild aspirant Obbo Johnson, a third year Bachelor of Social Sciences student accuses the VC of ordering criminal proceedings that landed him in Luzira prisons, on allegations of staging a demonstration on 20th August and 7th September, 2018.

Harsh Treatment Can’t Stop My Activism – Simon Wanyera

 

Simon Wanyera, commonly referred to as ‘The Revolutionary Son’, says that harsh treatment didn't stop his activism while at Makerere University.

Wanyera is currently at Law Development Centre pursuing a Diploma in Law. While in Makerere University, he was an advocate of just policies. An Education student between 2013-2017, Wanyera is a proud and vibrant Lumumba alumnus and awaits graduation.
